How to Achieve Success in Real Life by doing what 90% of the Population Will Not Do

Strange as it may sound, many people do not believe that they are entitled to success at all.  They have managed to convince themselves that real success is only possible for people on TV, those born into money, or those who are specially gifted.  It is simply not true.  The victim mentality has taken a hold of them and they seem to have given up on life.

There are many qualities that lead to real success, and that have been explored exhaustively over the last 500 years. These success traits are extremely helpful for those who take the time to learn about them and apply them to their lives. You may agree with me however, that just the way we think hugely impact our abilities to become successful in life.  I just read an article for example that listed  a certain number of qualities of successful people and the first one on the list was "Think Big"!

Now, thinking is a very personal and subjective neural activity. No one else can physically think for you, although they can influence you and I to act out their desires if we are too lazy to think for ourselves.  The second word in that short phrase is an adverb that encourages us to EXPAND and AMPLIFY our thinking so that we can hopefully get better results for the same efforts. BIG thinking is important for real success but that is not where I want to take you in this article.

The late Stephen Covey said it best. "Begin with the End in Mind", in his ground-breaking book; "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People".  You must ask yourself, “What do I really want in life”?  Think about that for a minute!  Are you looking for the house with the picket fence, a reasonably good car, and a steady income from your job?  Or are you looking to take a hiatus somewhere in the tropics, away from the capitalistic metropolitan cross roads of the world?  Are you looking to fix social ills or proselyte for your religious or spiritual values across the globe?  Only you can decide. No matter which you choose, you can be very successful at it, with the right information.

Information therefore, is where I want to begin to address the real issue of your success. To be successful at your vocation or venture, you need information.  There are always tips, tricks, and secrets in your area of endeavour that if used well, will set you apart from everybody else.  Reading the right books will be a huge boost to your success. Think about this for a minute.  Approximately 90% of the world's wealth, reside in the hands of less than 10% of the world population. It's not just luck that set the wealthy apart; it is information and the right application of it.

Get more information into your head so that over time, it will come together and influence your thinking in such a profound manner that you will automatically  make  excellent choices all around!  If I might be allowed to be slightly negative here, I would hasten to say that "You are the one who is stuck with the task of living the rest of your life"!  Put in another; more positive way.  The rest of your life can be thought of as a wide open field of opportunity, and the world awaits to fulfil your deepest desires, if you want them badly enough by reading more good stuff!

Reading is the key to becoming a more successful person.  If you do not read anything apart from traffic signals and job-related stuff, then you do not have any serious advantage over the person who cannot read.  I discovered a trait among successful people that still remains true today.  They read a lot!

Tai Lopez, Mike Dillard, Mark Cuban, Elon Musk, and Warren Buffet are prolific readers. In an article in the Huff Post by Andrew Merle entitled 'The Reading Habits of Ultra-Successful People', he quotes a story from Warren Buffet.  Here is the quote:

"In fact, when Warren Buffett was once asked about the key to success, he pointed to a stack of nearby books and said, “Read 500 pages like this every day. That’s how knowledge works. It builds up, like compound interest. All of you can do it, but I guarantee not many of you will do it.”

This quote is inspirational and true!  You may not find all the wisdom you are searching for in just one or two books, but over time, they build on your overall knowledge and like compound interest, create a momentum of knowledge and wisdom that you would never get from just a few books.  Some authors are worth their weight in gold.  Some are not too helpful. Together however, they will change your life and help you to become a more successful person.  Make a personal vow today, to read more, learn more, and enjoy a more successful life.
